DFC Progress Updates: RAPAD is in it’s 9th out of 10 years of work in the area. Annie shared trends that demonstrated the collective impact of Drug Free Communities work at different levels. See Annie’s slides for specifics.
Red Bull Infantry Deployment: Check out Facebook “Messages to the Home Front”. Monthly updates on this deployment provide reminders and also increase perspective and understanding around the impact of military service on individuals and our entire community. This video featured holiday well wishes to family and focused on one family who shared the experience of their baby’s gender reveal with family at home state-side and the Red Bull Infantry family abroad.
CADCA National Forum- Feb 4-7th: Andrew Peltz (restorative justice coordinator) and Annie Tepfer (drug free communities coalition coordinator) were approved to attend the 29th Annual Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) National Leadership Forum. This year’s title is “Transforming Communities: The Power of Community” and conversations will be focused on capacity building around youth, prevention, healing and growing.
Community Health Assessment Invitation: January 22nd RAPAD members are invited to attend the Community Health Assessment Forum from 11:00-2:30. At this meeting, Jill Bruns will be presenting public health data trends. Facilitators will then lead a conversation with community member.
PACT for Families: The Opioid Crisis Meeting hosted in November was reflected upon in local newspaper and newsletter showcasing the local panel of experts and the importance of community partnerships.
SW MN Region 7: There will be a regional networking meeting on January 11th @ 10-1 in New Ulm for local community organizers and advocates to come together for conversation and learning around sustainability and capacity building in community-based coalitions and initiatives.
Sean also shared information briefs on the labeling and regulation of marijuana edibles as well as the effects of consuming marijuana edibles.
Restorative Justice: Andrew shared an update on the development of the county circle program. About 40 volunteers have expressed interest in supporting the program. In late winter and early spring, Andrew will be hosting volunteer circles for community members to learn the process and get comfortable themselves as participants and supports for the restorative justice program.
