The Carry Over Request of $22,258.40 has been approved by Karen Warner our federal fiscal manager. Some of the activities for the expenditure of this carry over dollars will be for Alcohol Compliance Checks with Sheriff’s Office, Website updates, Media Campaign with Billboard for Flavored Tobacco Awareness, RAPAD brochures, Radio Ads, Annual Report, Youth Leadership Training, School Prevention Activities.
RCW Youth group TADA will be going to Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center for a Youth Leadership Training April 27th. Kelli was interested in having St Mary’s youth attend also. Annie will work on have their group attend also.
Paula Sturm Social Worker from Cedar Mountain has received more Project Northland Curriculum for teaching 6th – 8th grade prevention classes this next month. STARS Student Talking About Responsible Solutions is planning an Alcohol Awareness Month event in April. April 8th there will be a Kick Off 6-8th grade Alcohol Free Dance with Morgan Police helping wiith Drunk Goggles engaging them to shoot a basketball with the goggles on and showing how impaired your coordination and vision can be after using alcohol and reminding them to never ride with someone who has used also. There will be activities all week with the Alcohol Awareness Theme. Annie wants to remind schools that RAPAD Coalition has funding to implement prevention activities.
PACT For Families 5-25 Committee is working together on hosting a Youth Leadership Training next fall. More details coming as plans are developed.
Annie will be completing Tobacco Compliance Educate and Congratulate Checks in April-May. Minors will be used to enter stores and see if the youth can buy tobacco or if employees know how to Id youth correctly. Annie will also follow-up on changed Cigar Prices of $2.10 per cigar in packages under 7.
DFC Me Federal Reporting is due the end of March with the four core measures needing to be entered from the SHARE Survey also.
Prom and Graduation radio packages were sent from KOLV Chuck Blum to be used in April and May. Coalition members listened to the old radio ads and choose to use them this year again.
Carry Over funding will be offered to the Sheriff’s office to complete Alcohol Compliance Checks soon. It has been 2 years since the last check.
Morton City Hall is the newest location for a Medication Disposal Box in Renville County. This makes the 5th Box available to Renville County residence. There is the original Medication Disposal Box in Olivia at the County Government Center, Renville, Buffalo Lake, Fairfax and now Morton.
Olivia’s House of Hope- Janine Kramer Fundraiser April 15th CCOC- This will be for a transitional House for women coming out of jail, chemical dependency etc to live at for 6-18 months learning new skills, building a plan for being successful when on their own.
Guia Program- Jennifer Mendoza said they are busy with the youth and parents of Lationo youth involved in substance use in BOLD and RCW in Renville County.
Kiwanis- Be A Winner Turkey Dinner April 5th CCOC fundraiser for youth projects. Hannah, Leah from SHIP and Annie attended Point of Sale training in St Paul with American Lung Association and presented to the attendees on how they helped pass the new updated Tobacco Ordinance.
